Dear Enke,image 3
On behalf of Peace One Day and the Eliminate Domestic Violence Global Foundation, thank you for being part of the ‘Reducing Domestic Violence’ Coalition in support of Peace Day – 21 September.
Because of all our efforts, according to analysis conducted with the support of McKinsey & Company, an estimated 280 million people were aware of Peace Day 2012, with approximately 5.6 million behaving more peacefully as a result. We want to double the number of those aware in 2013. By getting involved, by spreading the word, by taking action on Peace Day, your participation will have a domino effect that will resonate around the world. The theme for Peace Day 2013 is ‘Who Will You Make Peace With?’ Watch this short film to find out more: https://bit.ly/12BIqp2Peace Day is as much about the violence in our homes, schools and communities as it is about civil and international wars.  The greatest violence humanity faces is domestic violence. At least 1 in 3 women are victims of domestic violence in their lifetimes (source UN Women). Raising awareness and engaging in concerted action on domestic violence saves lives; events that inform people about the facts and the consequences of domestic abuse can make a difference. By uniting on 21 September and generating a vast amount of activity on these issues, we will be making a significant contribution towards the creation of a more peaceful and sustainable world. Peace Day is everyone’s legacy.Help us by doing two simple things:
  1. Raise awareness to spark dialogue: Share the ‘Reducing Domestic Violence’ Coalition Membership Link with your networks, and spread the word via social media
  1. Come together in a constructive environment: Organise a Peace Day activity to mark the day. For resources and ideas on how you can get involved, please see The Pocket Book of Peace

Thank you once again for being a part of this movement. We look forward to hearing about your plans for 21 September 2013.

Warm regards

In peace
